Audiovisual and Sound Systems

At Sartell, I contributed to enhancing the audio systems by introducing Bluetooth FrontRow systems at PMPS and Riverview. Collaborating with colleagues, we extended these capabilities to the gymnasiums at ORELC and PMPS, where I also supported the installation and configuration of ceiling speakers in the PMPS STEAM Lab. Additionally, I worked with the team to address long-standing technical issues, such as gym lighting and sound systems, restoring these resources for regular use. Together with music teachers, we installed and configured sound equipment for their classrooms, ensuring the systems were fully operational and meeting educational needs.

Projector and Smartboard Management

To improve classroom technology at PMPS, I worked on removing outdated projectors and ensuring Smartboard systems were better organized to prevent damage. I helped adjust projectors for optimal display and implemented solutions for password-saving issues on Smartboards. In collaboration with the staff, I introduced advanced tools like Lumio, which enabled teachers to manage presentations remotely, offering flexibility when they were unable to be physically present. Additionally, I played a role in integrating app switchers on Smartboards and earned certifications in both Smartboard and Lumio technologies to provide ongoing support and training.

Event and Classroom Setup

In 2023, I assisted with the live-streaming of the PMPS ‘Battle of the Books’ event, working with the team to ensure a smooth experience for both participants and viewers. For larger school events like Bingo, I coordinated the technical setup for an audience of up to 1,000 people, receiving positive feedback from teachers for the seamless execution. I also trained staff on wireless display methods, and we collaborated to resolve issues with CKLA, improving the use of this tool in classrooms.

Office and Administrative Enhancements

Working closely with administrative staff, I helped improve office workflows by installing larger TVs, creating Ethernet connections for Smartboards, and resolving safety concerns by rerouting cables. We introduced Google Chat as a communication tool to streamline staff interactions and provided additional monitors and outlet extenders to enhance office productivity. In the PMPS workroom, I reorganized the printer setup to improve traffic flow and trained staff on print presets to increase efficiency.

Alongside the Network Administrator, I assisted in resolving a long-standing issue with Northstar library software and ensured that librarians received updated laptops for their daily tasks. I also provided training for special education teachers on Adobe Pro, enabling them to efficiently manage documents. Additionally, I addressed Gmail synchronization issues and helped streamline the district-wide Gmail directory to reflect accurate information for staff.

Network and Device Management

In support of the network team, I assisted with troubleshooting routers and switches and helped train staff on the importance of avoiding personal Apple IDs for professional use. I played a part in standardizing iPad setups for classrooms, ensuring easy access to key apps for both students and teachers. I also worked on configuring Apple Classroom, which improved device management in classrooms, and helped resolve licensing issues with Jamf Pro, enhancing the functionality of district technology. Collaboratively, we addressed iPad freezing issues caused by a software update, ensuring students and teachers could use their devices without disruption.

Storage and Organization

As part of our ongoing efforts to streamline resources, I helped reorganize the IT storage area at PMPS and implemented an improved system of dividers in the ReadingCorp Room to better manage equipment and materials.

IT Training and Tutorials

Recognizing the need for clear and accessible IT training, I developed tutorial videos and launched a centralized IT website (Rockensock.org) to provide staff with the resources they needed. This effort was well-received, as it helped teachers and administrators access the information and support required to effectively use technology in their classrooms.

Vision

1-1 Support
We currently provide free, personalized 1-1 support to teachers, students, paraprofessionals, substitute teachers, volunteers, and district administrators (DOEs). This support includes both remote and in-person assistance, with after-school help available for those needing technical support outside of regular hours. We are also working to establish a secure application to enhance our ability to provide safe and efficient remote support. While our 1-1 services for educational staff remain free, we also offer similar services to the broader public and community members for a fee. These contributions help sustain Rockensock.org’s operations, ensuring we can continue delivering valuable resources to the education sector.

Community Classes and Teacher Giveaways
We plan to provide free community classes for teachers, supported by contributions from our sponsors. In addition, we will host quarterly giveaways for teachers, featuring prizes from our sponsors, which will also be highlighted in our product section. These initiatives are aimed at further empowering teachers and enhancing their access to useful tools and resources.

Courses (Subject-Focused Tutorials)
We aim to build a comprehensive library of tutorials, organized into courses, each focused on specific subjects—such as Mac Fundamentals. These courses are designed to guide teachers through essential topics in a logical, step-by-step order, helping them navigate technology and enhance their classroom experience. Our goal is to ensure teachers feel confident, well-prepared, and equipped to teach with skill, confidence, and joy.
